Who is a mental health nurse?

A mental health nurse is a specialist with special skills and knowledge. The mental health nurse is the most appropriate first contact to clarify the health condition and receive recommendations for further treatment.

A mental health nurse:

  • Assesses and analyzes health risks,
  • Advises the client and his relatives, explains the nature of the health problem,
  • Teaches self-help techniques, monitoring of well-being and health status,
  • Works in a treatment team with psychiatrists, psychologists and/or other specialists.
  • Introduces various supportive therapies,
  • Coordinates and organizes the patient’s treatment journey, monitors mental health status, treatment regimen, side effects of medications.

A mental health nurse is there to support you. If you’re not sure if your problem requires intervention or just emotional support, then it’s best to start with a conversation with a mental health nurse. She will help you understand what next steps could be taken to ensure your well-being and health.

Mental Health Status Monitoring Package

Mental health monitoring is done by a mental health nurse. Only a psychiatrist and a mental health nurse can refer you to monitor your mental health status. The package includes up to 3 consultations with a mental health nurse. If, as a result of the first consultation, the mental health nurse decides that the client does not need more consultations, the client will be compensated 50% of the price of the package.

The goal of the mental health status monitoring service is to support a client who needs treatment for a long-term illness, including supporting a client in need of treatment for a chronic illness in improving their health condition.

During a mental health status monitoring consultation, a mental health nurse:

  • assesses the client’s state of health and analyzes health risks,
  • explains to the client the importance of the treatment prescribed by a psychiatrist and the principles of treatment, informs the client about the co-effects and side effects of the drug,
  • teaches Kleint to administer medication and keep a treatment diary,
  • evaluates the effectiveness of treatment, health indicators. Solves health problems independently or in cooperation with a psychiatrist when abnormalities occur. Informs the psychiatrist of the circumstances that have arisen during the observation period,
  • teaches to monitor well-being and state of health, explains the importance of follow-up,
  • identifies the need for additional examinations or referral to a specialist,
  • supports the client and their loved ones psychoemotionally.
